About Burnham Concert Band
The Band was founded in late 1975 and gave its first performance in December of that year as a youth band. The idea of forming an adult band from the original group flourished, and in 1977 it became the Burnham Concert Band.
Past musical directors of the Band include Mr. Missirrian, David Simpson, Andrew Challenger, Sally Roberts, Peter Jones, David Jackson, Geoffrey Bright, Charley Brighton, Jon Brigden, Jason Griffiths and Richard Watterson. Our long time Deputy Conductor is Marcus Gibbons
The band numbers some 40 musicians from in and around the area, all of whom contribute their musical skills outside of their own work and leisure time. Seasonal concerts take place in the band's fine rehearsal facilities at Burnham Park Hall and in addition the band supports local summer activities at various locations. The Band has had some unusual engagements including a performance at R.A.F Waddington Air Display near Lincoln, and at Legoland, Windsor.
Phil Lazenbury has been Burnham Concert Band's musical director since January 2006.
